The question every Canadian homeowner is asking
Adding a Level 2 EV charger or a heat pump means adding a large continuous load. Whether your panel can carry it is decided by a load calculation — and there’s often a smarter answer than a full service upgrade.

In Ontario, only a Licensed Electrical Contractor can be hired to do electrical work in your home. Their 7-digit ECRA/ESA number belongs on the website, estimates and vehicles — and you can check it with ESA’s contractor look-up.
- Licensed contractors arrange the ESA notification (permit) for the work
- Work is inspected against the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
- Handymen and general contractors can’t do electrical work themselves
