Signs your panel is working too hard

Breakers trip often

Especially when several appliances run together.

Warm or buzzing panel

Heat, buzzing or a burning smell needs attention now.

No room for new circuits

A full panel or tandem breakers everywhere.

Big additions planned

EV charger, heat pump, hot tub or a basement suite.

Two ways to add a big load

A load calculation decides what’s allowed. Then there are usually two routes.

Route A

Load management (EVEMS)

A device monitors the home’s demand and limits the EV charger when the house is busy. Recognized by the Canadian Electrical Code, it can add charging without a service upgrade.

Route B

Service upgrade to 200 A

New panel and service equipment, coordinated with your utility for disconnect and reconnect. The right choice when electric heat, a second EV or other big loads are coming.
